4th Aurora Charity Golf Classic, Auction & Dinner

Los Angeles, California - Aurora Japanese Language Scholarship Foundation announces its 4th Charity Golf Classic, Auction & Dinner, which will be held at California Country Club in Whittier, CA on Friday, June 12th, 2009.

The Aurora Foundation was established in 1998 (Dr. Akiko Agishi, Founder and President) as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.   Our mission is to promote Japanese culture to mainstream Americans interested in Japanese language and culture by providing them scholarships and grants through the Aurora Foundation’s programs.  The Aurora Foundation celebrated our 10th anniversary last year.  It is the Foundation's goal that we move forward together with our scholarship programs to help make a better world for the future of all.  The scholarship recipients have already been generating immeasurable goodwill for USA/Japan relations.

The net proceeds from this charity golf classic will fund the Aurora Japanese Language Scholarship, the Aurora Challenge Grant, the All USA High School Japanese Speech Contest, and the Aurora Endowment Fund.

The tournament format will use the Callaway Scoring system and there are many great prizes to award individual golfers.  In addition to supporting the Foundation’s mission, it is a great opportunity to meet and exchange contacts with people from all over the Southern California and to show off your great golf skills!

The California Country Club, established in 1956, “offers a natural haven for golf and relaxation in a location that is private, beautiful and convenient to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area.”

Honorary Chairs of the tournament are Mr. Juinchi Ihara, Consul General of Japan in Los Angeles, Mr. George Aratani from Aratani Foundation, and Mr. Tomio Ito from Ito Farms. The tournament chair is Mr. Tom Iino from Pacific Commerce Bank, and co-chairs are Ms. Nancy Matsui from American Airlines and Mr. Kurt Kimiaki Miyamoto from Quest International.
